The Muscular Dystrophy Association is seeking volunteers to answer phones and help out behind the scenes at this year’s Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethin, airing on MY-9 WWOR-TV August 31 and September 1.
The satellite pledge center will be located at Queens College’s Student Union on the college’s campus, 65-30 Kissena Boulevard. Interested volunteers should contact the local MDA office to pre-register in order to gain access to the pledge center on the dates of the telethon.
Coordinating the Telethon Pledge Center is the MDA, Queens College Committee for Disabled Students with support from the Queens College Telephone Services Department.
The telethon raises fund to support MDA’s programs of worldwide research, public health education and services for people affected by ant of more than 40 neuromuscular diseases.
The telethon will begin at 9 p.m., August 31 and air for 21.5 hours. The national broadcast originates in Las Vegas and cuts to frequent local segments.
