Man shot in buttocks at Williamsburg apartment building: NYPD

Cops are searching for a perp who they believe shot a 54-year-old man in the buttocks as he climbed the stairs of his Williamsburg apartment building on Wednesday evening.

The victim told police he came upon a man he did not know sitting on the staircase of his residential building at 199 Scholes St. at around 6:30 p.m.

When he asked the man to move so he could pass, the suspect shot the victim once in the buttocks, according to the NYPD. 

Paramedics and officers from the 90th Precinct arrived on the scene shortly after the shooting and rushed the bloodied victim to Elmhurst Hospital, where he is in stable condition. The suspect fled before NYPD officers reached the Williamsburg location, and no arrests have yet been made.

Cops describe the suspect as a Hispanic man approximately, 5’9” and weighing approximately 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red jacket and black sweater.

According to the latest NYPD data, there have been two shooting incidents so far this year in the 90th precinct, down from four reported shootings for the same period last year.
