Not-so-clean escape
Police arrested a man for allegedly stealing $55 worth of detergent from a Henry Street supermarket on June 28.
Employees told police that the man allegedly attempted to walk out of the store on the corner of Degraw Street with six packages of Tide Pods sometime at around 9:30.
Police arrived on the scene and cuffed the suspect at 9:51, charging him with petty larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, according to police reports.
Car crook
A thief nabbed $100 worth of children’s clothes from a car on Nelson Street on June 25.
The victim told police that the bandit entered the 2018 Jeep, parked between Columbia and Hicks streets, at around 4 am from the rear passenger door and snagged the clothes, as well as $193 worth of sunglasses, hand sanitizer, water, and car air fresheners.
Bag snagged
A porch pirate stole a purse from a President Street stoop sometime between June 19 and June 21.
The victim told police that the delivery service dropped off the package with the $140 bag onto his stoop between Columbia and Van Brunt streets, and the bandit must’ve snagged it before he could retrieve it.
Shady crime
A burglar stole $400 worth of sunglasses from an Amity Street car on June 25.
The victim told police that the nogoodnik snatched four pairs of pricey sunglasses from the center console of his Mazda, parked between Clinton and Court streets, at around 4:15 pm.
