They jingled all the way — around the park, that is.
More than 4,000 runners clad in Santa Claus hats and reindeer antlers hit the pavement with bells tied to their sneakers for the third annual Jingle Bell Jog on Dec. 8.
The festive four-mile run through Prospect Park, organized by New York Road Runners, benefits hundreds of youth programs in city public schools.
Many joggers see the event as a way to spread holiday cheer, with many donning costumes or circling the park with their kids.
But for some runners, a race is a race — even if the guy next to you at the starting line is dressed like an elf. Runner Dustin Emrani crossed the finish line first in just 20 minutes and 25 seconds, averaging just over five minutes per mile. Brooklyn’s top performer Greg Close came in seventh at 21 minutes and 43 seconds.
