Food stamps for sugar sodas?

Mayor Bloomberg wants to bar the use of food stamps for sugar-filled beverages and sodas on the grounds that such products are unhealthy. Of course, they are — but is the mayor’s initiative a public-health boon or just “nanny state” politics run amok?
