A sports utility vehicle crashed into the construction site of a new synagogue near the corner of E. 27th Street and Avenue N after one of the gas-guzzler’s wheels broke off on Jan. 31.
Authorities got a call about the accident at 1:18 pm, and arrived to find the Honda CR-V lodged in the plywood fencing around the building area — minus its right front wheel. Police helped remove the vehicle.
Fire Department records indicate that a pedestrian was struck in the process, but show that no one was brought to the hospital. An FDNY source said it was possible that a private religious ambulance service brought the individual to a medical center, which this paper could not confirm at press time.
