OLPH bazaar gives a nod to Mother Nature

This was an eco-friendly mart!

The carnival-style happenings featured a salute to Mother Nature when Our Lady of Perpetual Help Elementary School held its Father Joseph Marron Bazaar.

The annual fundraiser, honoring the parish’s late Redemptorist priest, featured the usual bargains and trinkets, but also kept true to its theme of “Caring for the Earth” with a variety of booths offering the lowdown on natural habitats, including info about how to preserve our oceans and rainforests.

The lucky ones even walked away with Burberry pocketbooks, skateboards, digital picture frames and electronics after successfully plying their hands at the games of chance.

Thrill seekers got their fill of jollies at an amusement park set up in the school yard on Sixth Avenue off 60th Street — with a carousel, to boot.

“It’s an event that brings together the entire community,” said Catherine Aquilino who helped with the organizing.
