Guest speaker Peter Stone moved the crowd to a hush with his harrowing account of being herded into a train as a 13-year-old, along with his family and other Jews from small towns in Hungary, and sent to Auschwitz-Birkenau during a recent Holocaust memorial in Bergen Beach.
The April 12 reflection at Temple Sholom on East 68th Street, between avenues U and T also featured a candle-lighting ceremony, other survivor testimonies and a Kaddish.
The assemblage recalled Nazi horrors of World War II with a sobering program of reflection, and youngsters from United Synagogue Youth marked the occasion with a solemn serenade.
