Welcome to the freak show!
All summer long, the Coney Island Circus Sideshow is hosting events that embrace what makes Coney Island unique. From burlesque shows to pop-ups, you never know what kind of shenanigans you can find at the sideshow.
Here’s a look at the upcoming events that are coming to Coney Island’s sideshow. All of the following events are located at 1208 Surf Ave. and tickets can be purchased at coneyisland.com.
Teacher Appreciation Fridays at the Freak Bar
Date: June 14, 2-7 p.m.
Price: Free entry
Coney Island is celebrating the teachers that work hard all year long. Show your school or UFT ID for 10% off your bar tab!
Prideshow at the Sideshow
Date: June 14, 9 p.m.
Price: $20
Coney Island’s own Nancy Nogood is taking the stage with a drag kings, queens, and things from all over NYC for a night of drag, drama and comedy. Must be 18+ to enter, 21+ to drink.
Lillian Bustle and Abby Fantastic Present: Bounce House Burlesque
Date: June 15, 9 p.m.
Price: $25
Bounce House Burlesque is back with a “body-abundant beach bash” that you won’t want to miss. Lillian and Abby are emceeing a massive night of fun. Must be 18+ to enter, 21+ to drink.
The 42nd Annual Mermaid Parade
Date: June 22, 1 p.m.
Price: Free
Here come the mermaids! This is the quintessential Coney Island event of the summer. Come and join in the nation’s largest art parade!
Hot Fix Sideshow’s INFERNO
Date: June 28, 8 p.m.
Price: $30-$50
Take a unique journey into Dante’s Inferno. Hot Fix challenges the audience to reframe the homophobic concept of Hell and look at a potential afterlife as a place that celebrates marginalized communities. Must be 18+ to enter, 21+ to drink.
Assorted Chocolates present MELT
Date: June 29, 9 p.m.
Price: $25
Feeling sensual? Melt is a night of pure indulgence, curated by Coney Island’s all-star, all-Black cast of award-winning performers. Must be 18+ to enter, 21+ to drink.
Maggie McMuffin Presents: Such Sights II: HELLBOUND
Date: July 6, 9 p.m.
Price: $25
Hosted by Miss Coney Island 2023 Maggie McMuffin, this is a night of body horror cabaret, twists and turns and incredible talent. Must be 18+ to enter, 21+ to drink.
Summer Pop Up Market
Date: July 14, 1 — 7 p.m.
Price: Free
Shop local at this pop-up market. There will be a lineup of local vendors to shop through, live caricatures from Patricia Scanlon, and food from Anirbas Catering.
Sideshow Shenanigans
Date: July 26, 9 p.m.
Price:$20
Host Kita St Cyr brings Coney Island an adults-only night of performances from traveling troupes from all over the USA. Must be 18+ to enter, 21+ to drink.
Sideshow Shenanigans presents Doctor Finnegan’s Circus
Date: Aug. 30, 9 p.m.
Price: $20
Doctor Finnegan’s Circus is bringing larger-than-life oddities, superhuman circus performances and more that will have your mind blown.
The 21st Annual Miss Coney Island Pageant
Date: Sept. 14, 9 p.m.
Price: $40 for the theater, $20 for Freak Bar Simulcast
Come by and see who will take the crown of Miss Coney Island 2024! You can either watch it in the theater or in the Freak Bar for a lower cost.
Sideshow Shenanigans presents Aaaahh… FREAK OUT!
Date: Sept. 27, 9 p.m.
Price: $20
Conceptualized by the Reverend Xander Lovecraft, spend the evening celebrating true sideshow royalty. Former sideshow performers and rising stars alike will take the stage to dazzle and impress with their incredible acts.
Hot Fix Sideshow presents: GHOST HOLE
Date: Oct.11, 8 p.m.
Price: $30
Looking to the fall, start the spooky season right with fire, burlesque, sideshow fun and so much more. Must be 18+ to enter, 21+ to drink.
Sideshow Shenanigans presents BLACK MASS
Date: Oct. 20, 7 p.m.
Price: $20
Celebrate blasphemy and sin at this one-of-a-kind night of fun. At Black Mass, you can “free your soul, find community, and release yourself from the binds of society.”
Burlesque at the Beach
If you love burlesque, Coney Island hosts its Burlesque at the Beach series all summer long. Each show is $25 for entry. Must be 18+ to enter, 21+ to drink.
