Surviving the Economic Downturn in Cobble Hill

The Cobble Hill Association’s fall general meeting, November 9 at 7:30 p.m., will feature a panel discussion, “Surviving the Economic Downturn in Cobble Hill,” and will be held at Long Island College Hospital, 339 Hicks Street at Atlantic Avenue in Avram Conference Room A.

With New York City’s unemployment rate at a reported 8.9 percent and under-employment estimated at 17 percent, Cobble Hill residents have been affected by the economic downturn with the many who work in the fields of finance, media, and law especially hard-hit.

Featured will be co-owners of two neighborhood businesses, Henry Zook of BookCourt, 163 Court Street and Michelle Mannix of Ted & Honey café, 264 Clinton Street at Verandah Place; an expert on local real estate, William Ross, director of Development Marketing, Halstead Property; and Lauren Young, personal finance editor, BusinessWeek.
