Grinch grabs
A pair of holiday hooligans ruined Christmas for two Carroll Gardens residents this week. Here’s what happened:
• A crooked elf swiped five potted Christmas trees from a 79-year-old Second Place resident’s home on Dec. 5 — then scared the holy spirit out of the fish swimming in the senior’s koi pond!
The thief raided the front yard between Clinton and Court streets sometime after 5:30 pm. After taking the trees, he chucked a rock into the man-made pool, endangering the water breathers.
• A goon swiped a Christmas wreath decorating the front of a Henry Street home on Dec. 9.
The owner of the home between Warren and Baltic streets remembered seeing the wreath greet her when she came home at 7 pm. But when she left at 8 am the next morning, the $50 laurel was gone.
Iron man
A muscle-bound brute swiped a wrought iron fence protecting a Degraw Street home on Dec. 5 — leaving the 75-year-old resident with a gaping hole in his defenses.
The section of fencing between Henry Street and Strong Place — valued at $300 — was taken sometime after 11:45 am, the homeowner told police.
Backpack raiders
Two thugs in ski masks swiped a backpack full of electronics from a 26-year-old on Dec. 6 following a confrontation on W. Ninth Street.
The victim was nearing Henry Street at 1:22 pm when the suspects sprinted up to him and placed a hard object — possibly a gun — against the back of his head.
The thieves then demanded his backpack, which contained two iPods, a voice recorder and a pair of headphones.
Pizza pluck
A pair of thieves jumped a pizza deliveryman on Verona Street on Dec. 8, taking $180.
The victim had just dropped off an order near Dwight Street at 6:55 pm when the goons pulled a gun on him, demanding his cash.
Dumb luck
Two shoplifters who took more than $3,000 in watches from a Smith Street Rite Aid on Dec. 9 were arrested two days later — when they swiped a $10 item from the same store, cops said.
Workers at the pharmacy chain between Union and President streets claim the thieves took more than 160 watches and some disposable razors from the store sometime after 8:30 pm.
Employees caught the theft on videotape, and zeroed in on the suspects when they returned on Dec. 11 in the hopes of snagging some more — albeit less expensive — loot.
