A 53-foot tractor trailer was left resting on a concrete divider as its contents spilled out on the roadway following a collision at “the top of the world.”
The connections between the Gowanus Expressway, the Prospect Expressway and the BQE, considered by some to be the highest point in the borough, played stage for the accident late Saturday night after the tractor trailer driver lost control of his rig following a minor accident with another vehicle.
Witnesses said that the tractor trailer slammed into the divider and then rolled on top of it. Gallons of diesel fuel spilled onto the roadway as a result, officials said.
No injuries were reported. Traffic resumed after the truck was removed and the spill cleaned up.
