Park Slope is quite literally on a roll.
Perhaps its the poor economy or perhaps its just something far more primal, but two sandwich shops are now sandwiching the neighborhood — the Crooked Tail Cafe on Third Avenue and the Hanco’s Vietnamese Sandwich shop on Seventh Avenue.
Crooked Tail Café opened at the corner of President Street two weeks ago and is already earning fans for its uniquely comforting speacialty: a lasagna Bolognese sandwich ($5 on a roll, $6.50 on a hero).
Co-owner Louis Turko says there’s nothing better, especially paired with one of his fine coffees.
Meanwhile, the Hanco’s chain has expanded from its base on Bergen Street in Boerum Hill to its larger satellite in the old Tea Lounge space at the corner of Seventh Avenue and 10th Street.
All its fine sandwiches are $7. Start with the classic, which features that uniquely Vietnamese combination of pate, ham, roasted ground pork, pickled vegetables and mayo — all on a crisp French baguette (the one benefit of France’s failed efforts in Indochina).
Hanco’s also has a wide selection of bubble teas, all around $4.
