Close, but no purse
A 23-year-old thief was arrested on Nov. 15 for a botched robbery attempted on Farragut Road in October.
Cops were told that the thief approached his victim between Rockaway Parkway and E. 96th Street at 8:20 pm on Oct. 28 and ordered her to hand over her purse.
The thug reportedly stuck a gun in the woman’s face and threatened to hurt her, but ran off before taking anything.
Detectives tracked down the thief on Monday, charging him with attempted robbery.
Roll-by burglary
A thief on a bicycle looted a delivery truck parked on Rockaway Parkway on Nov. 15, but didn’t pedal away fast enough to escape the police.
The man who operated the delivery truck told police he left his rig parked between Conklin and Flatlands avenues at 2:10 pm. He returned to the truck a few minutes later, and spotted the 48-year-old thief wheeling away with one of his boxes.
The thief was apprehended a short time later, charged with burglary and drug possession.
Driving and weaving
A 27-year-old motorist was arrested on drunk driving charges on Nov. 14 after he was caught weaving along Farragut Road.
Police said the suspect was seen driving a 2002 Toyota Prius between E. 77th Street and Ralph Avenue just after 5 am and was seen swerving over the double yellow line into oncoming traffic.
Cops pulled the motorist over and gave him a Breathalyzer test, where he scored a .104 percent — well over the legal limit.
Quite a haul
Two thieves snagged bags containing a whole lot of loot — $85,000 worth — on Nov. 9 during a brief confrontation with a local businesswoman on Ralph Avenue.
Police were not sure if the thieves responsible for the heist between Avenues K and L were lucky or if the 12:28 pm heist was by design.
Public service message
A 36-year-old mugger was arrested on Nov. 12 after he pulled a gun on another man on Avenue J, but then took a minute to clarify his apparently clear message.
The victim told police that he was nearing Utica Avenue at 9:44 pm when the thief stopped him in the street and flashed his gun.
“Give me everything in your wallet,” he demanded. But he didn’t stop there. Instead, he decided to lay down some wisdom. “Don’t get shot over money.”
The thief took $16 off his victim, but he didn’t get far. Cops caught up with him a short time later.
Patted down
A crew of thieves jumped a 14-year-old on Flatbush Avenue on Nov. 8, taking $1, as well as his wallet and iPhone.
The victim was nearing Avenue U at 6:20 pm when the two thieves grabbed him. One held him while the other patted the victim down for his valuables.
Laundry loot
A gun-toting thug raided the Choo Choo Laundry on E. 102nd Street on Oct. 26 during a daring late-night robbery.
Workers at the 24-hour laundromat, which is between Farragut and Glenwood roads, said the thief entered at 12:20 am and pulled a gun on a worker, demanding that he empty the register.
The thief ran off with $200, said police. No injuries were reported.
This was the second time the laundromat had been robbed in a month, police said.
